Dylan has picked up crawling capabilities quickly. He is an adventurous crawler and has done reconnaissance all around the house. Emma has become far more adventurous since her brother has been showing her how it’s done. They are like two little dogs that crawl along. I have not yet managed to capture this on video, but they bump into each other and try overtaking each other while crawling down the passage. When we want them to play in their own room only, we now have to block off the exit or else they will be down the passage in the blink of an eye.
Dylan now also pulls himself up on furniture and can also stand in his cot. For most of last week, like Emma, he didn’t know how to sit again after standing and started to moan and eventually cry until he was helped down again. He has figured it now though. Emma has started to let go when she is standing in her cot. She stands for exactly 1 second after letting go, and then collapses as her knees buckle. She is back up again in no time to do it all over again.
We had a small scare with Dylan 2 weeks back. The paediatrician at the nine month check-up picked up another heart murmur with Dylan. So we went off to the same paediatric cardiologist who saw Dylan just after he was born. He put many sensors on Dylan and also used his ultra sound machine on him. At the end of it all he was very happy with Dylan and said he had a very minor leak between the two main cavities in his heart, 2mm large that would grow closed. The original murmur is now completely gone. Since Dylan has been gaining weight extremely well since birth there doesn’t seem to be very much wrong with his little heart, as babies with heart problems struggle to gain weight. We were very relieved.
Emma and Dylan are enjoying their swimming. I bought them a floating seat from Polyotter. They love it. Emma was a bit scared at first but now really enjoys it. So now when we do swimming, one sits in the float seat and the other one swims. Emma likes to stand on the first step at the shallow end and hold onto the side. She splashes the water with her free hand. When I help them to swim, they kick a bit and splash with their arms. They have had a couple of gulps of water already. Since we have the float seat their water confidence has really improved a lot. We have swum about three times already in the last couple of weeks. Now that they kick a bit more they don’t get so cold so quickly anymore. We have a warm bath ready for them after their swim to help them get warm and to get the chlorine off them. They love it. Click on the link below for more pictures of them in the pool.
